Sternal Reconstruction
Dr. Jacobson has done over 2000 sternal reconstructions in his career in Arizona. Dr. Jacobsen were closely with cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons in the Valley to help patients who has had heart surgery that required the sternum to be divided during the surgery. Sometimes the sternum becomes infected or this narrow sternal bone breaks or the sternal wires pull through. This can cause infection and open wound that extends down to the hard and can cause pain as the bone sometimes fractures from the wire particularly in patients that cough a great deal. These daunting wounds and sternal disruptions can be repaired. This is often done through a short operation at the Hospital. Dr. Jacobson has a team of physicians and nurses to help care for this difficult problem. This requires very careful management of your antibiotics your activity her pain medications your anticoagulation and her blood sugar. There are frequently multiple medical problems that have to be cared for in patient’s that have this problem.
